At a glance
- 30days in 4 phases
- 15-30minutes a day as a minimum
- 3free exams to start with
- 1-3-7days to review wrong answers
General principles
- You need 60% in both parts: 18/30 in theory and 12/20 in practical. The plan below gives time to both.
- A little each day beats one long session. Trying to recall before you check, and spreading review over several days, lasts longer.
- Redo every item you miss on the next day, on day 3 and on day 7.
Week 1 (days 1 to 7): understand the exam and get used to it
- Day 1: read the exam structure and remember the part-by-part pass rule.
- Day 2: take free exam 1 with furigana, without the timer. The aim is to understand, not to score.
- Day 3: redo exactly the items you missed in exam 1, and learn the first 10 words.
- Days 4 to 6: learn 10 words a day from the roll call and inspection group, and read roll call and inspection.
- Day 7: redo the missed items of exam 1 once more.
Week 2 (days 8 to 14): the ○× part and keywords
- Read how to answer ○× items and practise underlining the subject, condition and keywords.
- Days 8 and 9: take free exam 2 and label each mistake.
- Days 10 to 13: continue vocabulary, one topic group a day, reading the example sentences.
- Day 14: review exams 1 and 2, only the items you missed.
Week 3 (days 15 to 21): the practical part and truck topics
- Read hazard prediction (KYT) and apply the three steps: picture, hazard, safe action.
- Read loading, securing and overloading.
- Days 17 and 18: take free exam 3.
- Days 19 to 21: learn the cargo, securing and overloading words, and review mistakes on schedule.
Week 4 (days 22 to 30): timed practice
- Take a full 50-item paper in 80 minutes with the timer, flag items you are unsure of and come back to them.
- Look at the score of each part separately. Spend more time on a part below 60%.
- If you use VIP, continue with exam 4 onward and the tips section. If not, redo the three free exams and review mistakes.
- Last two days: light review, check your documents, the route to the venue and your confirmation. See the registration guide if you have not registered yet.
If you only have 10 days
Prioritise, following the app's tips: the part-by-part pass rule and the 80-minute plan, how to read ○× items, then timed papers and wrong-answer review every day. Do not skip the practical part.
VIP unlocks exams 4 to 20, the full vocabulary book and the exam tips. VIP is bought inside the iOS app with Apple payment, and Apple shows the price. The App Store version is coming soon. You can try the free exams on the web now.
