How to use this page

Each item shows its source, for example "Exam 1 · Q10", so you can find it in the app. The items are shown in English for easy reading; the real exam is in Japanese only, so after trying them here, do them again in the app in Japanese.

Part 1: 10 true/false items

  1. Exam 1 · Q1. A private-use truck (white plate) may also carry customers' cargo for payment.
    Show answer

× False. Only business trucks (事業用, green plates) may carry customers' cargo for payment. Private-use trucks (自家用) carry only the owner's goods.

  2. Exam 1 · Q7. If you sleep after drinking, it is not drunk driving the next day even if the alcohol is still affecting you.
    Show answer

× False. If alcohol still affects you, it is drunk driving (飲酒運転), even after sleeping.

  3. Exam 1 · Q10. On ordinary roads with no posted speed sign or marking, the maximum speed for trucks is 60 km/h.
    Show answer

    ○ True. This is the legal speed (法定速度) on ordinary roads.

  4. Exam 1 · Q14. An emergency flare is valid for 10 years.
    Show answer

× False. A flare is valid for 4 years. Ten years is the life of a fire extinguisher.

  5. Exam 1 · Q20. A long truck has a large inner-wheel difference, so when turning left it can catch bicycles or pedestrians on its left.
    Show answer

    ○ True. In a turn the rear wheels run inside the front wheels; the longer the truck, the larger the difference.

  6. Exam 1 · Q22. On an expressway at 100 km/h on the speedometer, the guide for following distance is 50 metres or more.
    Show answer

× False. On expressways read the speed as metres: 100 m or more at 100 km/h.

  7. Exam 1 · Q26. If speed triples, the impact force in a collision becomes nine times greater.
    Show answer

    ○ True. Impact force grows with the square of speed: 3 × 3 = 9.

  8. Exam 2 · Q10. The area within 3 m of an intersection and its edge is a no-parking, no-stopping zone.
    Show answer

    × False. The correct distance is 5 m, not 3 m.

  9. Exam 2 · Q26. Eco-driving (エコドライブ) is driving skill and mindfulness that cuts fuel consumption and CO2 emissions and helps prevent global warming.
    Show answer

    ○ True. This is the textbook definition.

  10. Exam 3 · Q10. A stop for people to get on or off, or for loading or unloading within 10 minutes, counts as stopping, not parking.
    Show answer

× False. The limit is 5 minutes.

Many false items change just one number (10 years for 4, 50 m for 100 m, 3 m for 5 m, 10 minutes for 5). Reading numbers carefully is the quickest way to score. See also how to answer ○× items.

Part 2: 5 practical A/B/C items

  1. Exam 1 · Q34. You are about to turn left in a long truck. What is correct?
    A. Because of the large inner-wheel difference, swing wide to the right first
    B. Keep to the left edge, check the left and rear-left, then turn
    C. If nothing shows in the left mirror, assume there are no bikes and turn
    Show answer

    B. Swinging right first is a banned way of turning: it catches two-wheelers and can hit other vehicles. The left and rear-left have blind spots, so do not trust the mirror alone.

  2. Exam 1 · Q37. While driving, the truck does not slow down when you press the brake. What is correct?
    A. Since it will not stop, switch off the engine at once
    B. Shift down repeatedly and slow with engine and exhaust braking
    C. Swerve hard left and right to scrub off speed
    Show answer

    B. Switching off the engine before stopping cuts all the electrics, which is dangerous.

  3. Exam 1 · Q44. Beyond a railway crossing, the light at the next intersection is red and cars are queued. What is correct?
    A. Follow the car ahead and wait inside the crossing
    B. If the barrier is up, cross without stopping
    C. If there is not enough room beyond for the whole truck, do not enter the crossing
    Show answer

    C. The rear could be left on the tracks. If there is no room, or you are unsure, do not enter.

  4. Exam 2 · Q40. Which pallet lets the forklift's forks be inserted from any direction?
    A. A four-way entry (四方差し) pallet
    B. A two-way entry (二方差し) pallet
    C. A single-faced (片面使用形) pallet
    Show answer

    A. 二方差し takes forks from two directions only; 片面使用形 is about which face carries cargo.

  5. Exam 3 · Q34. While driving on an expressway you want to check a slip on the passenger seat. What is the appropriate action?
    A. A second covers a long distance, so do not look at the slip while driving
    B. Glance at the slip briefly between looks at the road ahead
    C. Check the slip on a smartphone, since it is only a screen
    Show answer

    A. At 100 km/h a truck covers about 28 m per second; a short distraction can cause a crash.
