Japanese trucking vocabulary with furigana

The truck exam is written in Japanese, so knowing the trade words is half of understanding a question. Tokutei Transport has a 510-word vocabulary book taken from the exam textbook itself, each word with a reading, English and Vietnamese meanings and an example sentence.

Why trade words matter

True/false questions often look the same and differ by one word or one number. If you are not sure what 固縛(こばく), 積載(せきさい) or 点呼(てんこ) means, it is hard to see the changed detail. The same goes for the practical A/B/C part: the situation is written in Japanese, and a single word such as 徐行(じょこう) or 一時停止(いちじていし) decides which option is right. Learning vocabulary first helps you read faster within 80 minutes.

How the vocabulary book is organised

The 510 words come from the official textbook for foreigners and are ordered by frequency. They are split into 11 topic groups:

Each word has a furigana reading, English and Vietnamese meanings, and an example sentence from the textbook with translation, so you see the word used as it is in the questions.

A 15-minute daily routine

  1. Pick a topic group, for example cargo handling. Read 10 words and say the readings aloud.
  2. Read the example sentence of each word so you remember it in context, not alone.
  3. Take a mock exam and notice where the words you just learned appear.
  4. Review after 1, 3 and 7 days. Recalling the meaning before you check lasts longer than rereading once.

Free and VIP

The first 100 words (by frequency) are free and the rest need VIP. Furigana in the exams is available in all three free exams.

VIP unlocks exams 4 to 20, the full vocabulary book and the exam tips. VIP is bought inside the iOS app with Apple payment, and Apple shows the price. The App Store version is coming soon. You can try the free exams on the web now.

Studying words alongside the mock exams works better than studying each on its own. See also the exam structure and the study tips.

FAQ

How many words are in the app?

510 words taken from the study textbook and ordered by how often they appear. The first 100 are free and the rest are for VIP.

Do the words have furigana?

Yes. Every word with kanji shows its reading in hiragana, with English and Vietnamese meanings.

How should I study the vocabulary?

Study by topic group (roll call, loading, securing cargo, hazard prediction), read the example sentences, and review several times a few days apart.

Do I need N4 to sit the exam?

Exam eligibility is age and a valid driving licence. JFT-Basic or N4 is a requirement for working under the status, not for registering for the exam. Knowing the trade words still makes questions faster to read.

Take a mock exam and see right away which items you missed and why.
